2015 October 31 – People of the Potteries Hackspace group did their final hacks* in the workshop spaces that have housed the growing community for the past few years. The shared tools, matterials and works-in-progress were packed up and unloaded into storage. The search continues for a new space in which to meet and make things…
- To ‘hack’ is to ‘make’ in a direct and unrestricted way; the term may have originally been applied to software (where a the possibilities of a computer system are explored, perhaps beyond its makers’ expectations), but it equally applies to hardware (did you ever use a beer-mat to prop up the corner of a wobbling table? That’s a hack – you made something work differently, you made your immediate environment a better place, for the good of the local community).
